Halwa puri is a traditional Pakistani breakfast. It is a very famous cuisine across Pakistani and India. It is loved by all over the South Asia. In Pakistan Halwa puri is a vey popular weekend breakfast. Today we will learn how to make soft puri, halwa and chana and aloo ki bhujia.





Halwa puri is usually served with Suji ka Halwa, Chole and achar. This breakfast is a beautiful fusion of sweet and spicy flavor. It is served with the platter of soft puri. Where Suji ka Halwa give you a wonderful sweet taste on the other side chana and aloo ki bhujia will give you a great spicy flavor. I like to make Halwa puri at home. Today I will share this amazing Halwa puri recipe with you guys.



What is Halwa Puri:

It is a traditional Pakistani breakfast. It is served with the  platter of soft and fluffy deep fried bread (puri) with suji ka halwa, chana and aloo ki bhujia. It give you a perfect and delicious taste of sweet and spicy flavors.

Ingredients:

1.For Puri:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • Water (according to need)
  • Oil (for frying)


2. For Halwa:

  • 1 cup of suji (semolina)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of ghee
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • Few saffron strands
  • Different nuts ( almonds, cashews)
  • Few raisins



3. For chana:

  • 2 cups of chickpeas ( better soaked at night)
  • 1 large onion ( nicely chopped )
  • 2 tomatoes ( nicely chopped)
  • 2 green chilies ( chopped )
  • 1 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt according to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoon of oil



For Aloo Bhaji:

  •  Take 4 medium potatoes size ( boiled )
  • 1 large onion ( nicely chopped )
  • 2 green chilies ( chopped )
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • salt according to taste
  • fresh coriander leaves
  • 2  tablespoon of oil



Instructions:

1.For puri:

  • Take a large bowl mix flour, salt and some oil. Slowly add water and knead into a smooth dough. Cover the dough and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  • Now divide the dough into small equal balls. After that roll each ball into a thin circle. Heat the oil in a deep pan, Now start frying one puri at a time until they become golden brown and fluffy. Now take them out and put on paper towels.


2.For Halwa:

  • Take a saucepan now boil water, sugar, and saffron until the sugar dissolves completely in it.
  • Take another pan then heat ghee in it and then add suji (semolina) roast the suji on medium heat until it becomes golden brown.
  • Now very carefully pour the hot syrup into the roasted  sujji  (semolina), Stir continuously to avoid any lumps. Then  some add cardamom powder mix it well.
  • Now add few nuts and raisins for garnishing.
  • Cook the halwa foe few more minutes until the halwa becomes thick and leaves the side of the pan. 
 

3.For Chana:

  • Take a pan heat the oil in it. Add some cumin seeds wait for some time the add chopped onions and sauté until it becomes golden brown. Noe add ginger and garlic paste and green chilies and let it sauté for another minute.
  • Now add some tomatoes, salt (according to taste), turmeric powder, coriander, cumin seeds and red chili powder. Cook it until the tomatoes become soft.
  • Now add the chickpeas and some water. Then simmer it for 10 to 15 minutes add some garam masala and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Garnish it with fresh corianders.


4. Aloo Bhujia:

  • Now take a pan heat the oil in it then add mustard seeds and wait for some time. Then add onions and green chilies and cook it until the onions become soft.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt (according to taste) and boiled potatoes and mix them well then cook for a few minutes.
  • garnish with coriander leaves.


Serving:

Serve hot and fresh puris with your Suji ka halwa, chana and aloo ki bhujia. Now your traditional Pakistani breakfast halwa puri is ready to eat.
